How can you cover up a glass break on your front door?

my brother just punched the glass window and it shatterd to peices, is there any way to cover it up until we get it fixed?How can you cover up a glass break on your front door?I would use plywood cut to fit....that would seal up the opening for a while. You could also use cardboard as a very short term fix
