Why was "How would you have reacted to this terrible situation?" deleted?

I was browsing and came across this question. When I tried to answer, it had been deleted for alleged violation of community guidelines. I was appalled by this, because it's a question about a tragic event that really needs answered, and did not seem to violate the guidelines.

Excerpts:

%26quot;her dog was hit by a car right in front of her%26quot;

%26quot;the dog was hit by a policeman%26quot;

%26quot;he turned around, got back in his car and drove off!%26quot;

%26quot;We want to press charges against the officer but Im not sure what he did other than act in an extremely heartless and unprofessional manner.%26quot;Why was %26quot;How would you have reacted to this terrible situation?%26quot; deleted?That constitutes chatting as it's not really a question which can be answered factually. It's seeking opinions which is not the purpose of the site.Why was %26quot;How would you have reacted to this terrible situation?%26quot; deleted?well, if he hit the dog and drove off thats considered hit and run sooo yah press charges on him. Oh and tell your friend i feel bad for her loss. I have a dog too and i dont know what id do with out him. :)Why was %26quot;How would you have reacted to this terrible situation?%26quot; deleted?This is Yahoo Answers. It is not Yahoo Opinions.

To put it another way, what is the SINGLE CORRECT ANSWER to that question? What is the single correct answer to %26quot;How would you have reacted to this terrible situation?%26quot; Picking the Best Answer is not about picking the answer that makes you feel good. It is about picking the MOST CORRECT answer, regardless of personal feelings. What makes one individual's reaction better than another? Your opinion on their reaction? This is why it is not Yahoo Opinions.

Why are people so astounded when opinion questions end up getting deleted? It's not that hard to understand. It is spelled out in the Community Guidelines. You follow the Question and Answer format. If it is a discussion, then it is a violation. If it is a question designed to gather as many viewpoints as possible in one place, then it is a violation. If it is a question geared toward self-promotion, or ranting, or being up on a soap-box (complaining about a cop hitting a dog), then it is a violation.

If the person had asked...

%26quot;How do you file charges against a police officer?%26quot;

And then given the details of the story, what state and county, etc., and repeated the question at the end... THEN it would be a valid question, because it would result in directions being given in how to file charges against a police officer... OR it would result in an explanation of why what he did was reprehensible but not illegal in that area. You get it?

So the question was deleted because it was in violation of the community guidelines.
