What is the approximate cost of adding a mudroom/ front hall?

My husband and I are going to put an offer on a new house, but the only problem is that it has no front entryway- no room for hanging jackets, taking off shoes, etc. The front door opens directly into a small living room. We live in Massachusetts, where it is cold during half the year, and opening that front door will bring the temperature of the whole house down. It will also be really messy, so we want to add on a mudroom or front hall type area. It doesn't need to be fancy. Roughly how much does this cost to have done? We have absolutely no idea.
